A New Chapter
In September I first met the lady who was to be my second wife. She was the sister in law of a colleague/friend of mine, Geoff Rust. Her name was Sheila and she had come out to Cyprus for a holiday with her husband Dennis who I found out later had been in the Royal Navy and had done his basic training at HMS Royal Arthur in Skegness whilst I had been there. Dennis and Sheila were going through a sticky period in their marriage and Sheila had just been made redundant. Most of my leisure time during the day was spent on the beach and evenings at the Pergy Club, skittles was played and any visitors were welcome to join in these pastimes, consequently I was in the company of Sheila and Dennis quite a lot.
One day when we were lying on the beach I asked Sheila if she would like to go out to a small island which was just off shore telling her that she could lie on the Lilo on the way and be able to see the fishes in their natural habitat. She said that she would love that and lay on the Lilo.
